College H.U.N.K.S. Hauling Junk and Moving (CHHJ)
College H.U.N.K.S. Hauling Junk and Moving (CHHJ) started their mission to “move the world” in 2003 – Omar Soliman was back home in the suburbs of Washington DC, working for his moms furniture store to get some summer cash. While delivering couches to customers, Omar noticed customers asking to help get rid of their old couches. Omar saw an opportunity, and recruited his best friend, Nick Friedman to jump on it. They put up fliers around the neighborhood. Right away, people called. Omar and Nick created a business model based on their summer of junk-hauling, and won an entrepreneurship competition with this plan. After a brief corporate stint, Omar and Nick officially started College Hunks in 2005, and began franchising in 2007, bringing their prize-winning plan to life. Now, with Omar as CEO and Nick as President, CHHJ has over 200 locations around the US and Canada.
The H.U.N.K.S name began as an amusing phrase between Omar and Nick, and evolved into an acronym that captures the CHHJ values: Honest, Uniformed, Nice, Knowledgeable, Service. College Hunks promises to handle your things with precision, care, and professionalism and aid the stress of moving and removing unwanted items with care.
All items CHHJ removes get re-used by people in need. This is ensured through partnerships with Goodwill, Habitat for Humanity, and hundreds of independent non-profits. When an item can’t be re-used, CHHJ disposes of them in an eco-friendly way.
Additionally, CHHJ partners with U.S. Hunger to donate two nutritious meals for every move booked. CHHJ also promotes domestic violence awareness to help those suffering from these situations. During October, CHHJ offers domestic violence victims heavily discounted moves, treating each situation with the utmost confidentiality and sensitivity.

With over 200 locations, CHHJ’s corporate marketing team had 175+ franchisees looking to them for vetted, trackable ways to advertise. The CHHJ team originally contacted our agency looking for help with a recruiting ad they shot for Omar’s Miami location. CHHJ also used a customer CRM called HunkWare to track their jobs – this added a data challenge with tying potential conversions to revenue returns. An advertising solution that tied HunkWare revenue to website conversions wasn’t common.
LEVERAGING CTV TO PRECISELY TRACK RESULTS AND LIFT BRAND AWARENESS
Our ConnectedTV Solution allowed CHHJ to reach in-market audiences and website visitors with TV ads shown through Wi-fi connected streaming devices (Roku, AppleTVs, SmartTVs, etc.) CHHJ started with the recruitment ads, and ran several different campaigns to find the best use case for ConnectedTV: a recruitment ad for employees, a recruitment campaign for franchise owners, and a customer facing ad for moving and junk removal services. The customer facing campiagn was the most effective after a two month pilot test across corporate and franchise locations despite starting during their slow season – winter.
After the success of the pilot campaigns and a thorough vetting process, Anderson Collaborative became the only authorized vendor for College Hunks ConnectedTV advertising in 2023. In May 2023, after navigating Google analytics data with the CHHJ Product Development team, our agency created a Return on Ad Spend (ROAS) dashboard that matches Connected TV conversions with completed jobs, allowing for clear return on ad spend for all CHHJ ConnectedTV campaigns.
